Do or Die, #41
Original air date: April 26, 2004
The scoop: Linda decides to leave Everwood; Amy struggles to tell Ephram how she truly feels about him.

What's Up With Amy: Bright is determined that prom night will be the best night of his life, so he rents a Winnebago and insists that Amy and Ephram find prom dates and accompany him. Neither Amy nor Ephram is too enthused to go to the prom but Amy's hopeful that Ephram will ask her. With Bright's encouragement Amy goes over Ephram's and asks if he'd like to go to the prom with her as friends. Ephram thanks her but declines. He knows several guys have asked her and he thinks she asked him because she feels sorry for him. Bright explains to Amy that she needs to tell Ephram how she truly feels. He's sure that once Ephram sees her all dressed up for the prom all his old feelings for Amy will come rushing back. Bright decides to take 4 girls to the prom and tells Amy and Ephram that they have to go together because there won't be enough room in the Winnebago if they each take dates. Amy plans on telling Ephram about her feelings for him some time that night. On prom night Amy's hope for a rekindling of their relationship is dashed out when they run into somebody from Ephram's past.

What's Up With Ephram: The only person Ephram wants to take to the prom is Madison. No matter how many times Amy hints to him that she wants to go with him, Ephram doesn't see it. On the night of the prom Amy and Ephram run into a convenience store to pick up snacks (while Bright waits with his 4 bickering dates in the Winnebago) and who happens to be there picking up munchies but Madison. You can practically hear Ephram's heart stop. Madison can tell by the way he's dressed that he's on his way to the prom and that's when Amy pops up and stops in her tracks when she sees Madison. Madison says she has to go and Ephram says, "No, wait," creating awkwardness between the 3 of them. Amy gets the picture and exits so Ephram can be alone with Madison. To Ephram's disappointment Madison tells him she'll see him around and leaves. After that, Ephram's already morose mood is even worse. Amy tries talking to him during the prom (as Bright is elected prom king with one of his dates). Later, the 2 of them sit alone in the Winnebago talking. Just as Amy's getting the nerve to admit her feelings, Ephram once again cuts her off and goes on about Madison. After the prom Bright clues Ephram into Amy's feelings. Maybe now he'll stop being so clueless.

What's Up With Andy: Andy's mentor, Dr. Donald, visits Andy hoping he'll perform very risky brain surgery on one of his patients. Andy initially refuses until he realizes the patient is Donald, and then he decides to go through with the surgery. Meanwhile, Harold pays a visit to Andy, giving him a train schedule. Andy has no idea what it's for and all Harold tells him is to be there.

What's Up With Linda: Although Harold is upset about it, Linda feels the best thing for her is to leave Everwood, heading to another exotic African country where she'll be able to practice as a doctor and have her own life. She misses Andy terribly and doesn't tell him about her plans because she refuses to be talked out of her decision. She's shocked to see him at the train station, there to say goodbye. Andy thanks her for helping him learn how to live again. They hug and she tells him to leave quickly before she breaks down. Andy leaves and Linda goes on to board her train. Before boarding she turns around to have a last look at Andy and sits down on a bench burying her face in her hands.
