Unspoken Truths, #39
Original air date: February 23, 2004
The scoop: Ephram pushes Madison farther away; Linda's beginning to question Andy's friendship with Nina; Tommy introduces Amy to his world.

What's Up With Amy: Report cards have been mailed and Amy has failed 2 of her classes. She asks Bright (who himself got 3 A's on his report card) to intercept the mail for her but it's too late, her parents have already seen it. She has a meeting with them and her guidance counselor and it's determined that Amy will need to go to summer school. Tommy, wanting to cheer Amy up tells her that they'll do anything she wants that Friday night. His friends are having a party and Amy's curious to meet them so she agrees to go. The party is held in an empty motel where each room is turned into a bar. Tommy encourages Amy to drink so that she can relax have a good time. Later, Amy's laughing and well on her way. She and Tommy go into one of the rooms to be alone and she asks Tommy what else he's taken besides alcohol. He brings out a plastic bottle with a clear liquid in it and tells her that it's GHB - also known as the date rape drug. He tells Amy that if you know how to take it it's harmless. Amy asks him how it feels and if it makes him feel happy. After he describes it to her she asks to try some. At first he loosely says no but it doesn't take much for her to talk him into letting her try some. Afterwards, Amy wanders the halls of the party by herself in a haze. She keeps seeing a familiar face and finally she's face to face with Colin. He tells her to stop following him and to go away. She begins to cry but he keeps telling her to go away and to say goodbye. Amy tells Colin goodbye and he disappears. Amy goes back to Tommy who's passed out on the bed. She tries to wake him but can't. She uses Tommy's cell phone to get help. Instead of calling 911 (which would bring the police) she calls her dad who rushes into the party with his medical bag. He asks Amy if she's on something and she admits she took GHB but that Tommy took more. Amy looks on as her dad begins to examine Tommy who's still out cold.

What's Up With Ephram: Madison's band has been getting more serious and is playing at a local bar where a music agent is going to watch them. Even though Madison doesn't think he should take the risk, Ephram is determined to go because he's tired of being left out of Madison's world. He asks Bright how he should get into the bar and Bright takes him to get a fake ID. At the bar, Madison's on stage and Ephram walks around looking out of place, so he orders some drinks. After the show, he runs over to Madison and tells her how great she was. Then the music agent comes over complimenting the band's performance. Ephram steps in and gushes about how Madison was the star of the show. The agent wants to talk with the band and Ephram thinks he's going to go with them. Madison realizes Ephram's drunk and tells him he can't come. Ephram gets upset and unloads all the feelings of frustration he's let build up in him, asking Madison why she hasn't said I love you and why he can't be a part of her world. At that point, Jay the guitarist intervenes and tells Ephram to get lost. Ephram looks to Madison for her defense but she says nothing. Ephram turns to walk out but turns back and slugs Jay who then tackles him. Ephram ends up at the police station and Andy has to come get him. On their way out Madison is waiting and Andy let's them talk. Again Ephram professes how deeply he feels for her and Madison begins crying and saying that everything has gotten out of control, she wasn't expecting it and she's not ready for it. They decide to talk the next day. Later, Ephram's surprised when Andy says he isn't going to ground him but that he insists Ephram tell him everything that's been going on. Ephram says he wishes his mother were there so he could ask her why Madison doesn't feel for him the way he does for her. He cries as he tells Andy how much he loves her.

What's Up With Andy: Andy's determined to be there for Nina as she's going through her divorce. Not only does he accompany her to meetings with her lawyer but also he contracts one himself that he's paying for. Linda's been understanding but now she's beginning to question where Nina's feelings are going to end up after all is said and done. Linda wants Andy to back off but he refuses telling her that he's had to deal with a lot her issues so now she's going to have to deal with his. Linda looks taken aback as she walks out with Andy looking after her.
