The L Word, #38 Original air date: February 16, 2004 The
scoop: Ephram spits out 3 words to Madison before he can stop himself; Amy attempts to break up with Tommy; Linda watches
Delia for the weekend.
What's Up With Amy: Amy's still bothered about Tommy's drug dealings the night of the
party. With Laynie encouraging her she decides to break up with him. She talks to him at a restaurant and after being interrupted
several times by his beeper she tells him. He doesn't seem upset and agrees with her, which perplexes Amy even more. The next
night Amy and Laynie are on their way out when Tommy approaches them and begs Amy to talk to him. He looks disheveled and
when Amy asks if he's on something he doesn't deny it. He tells Amy how much he needs her and that he loves her. He sweet-talks
her into taking him back. The next night he takes her out to an expensive restaurant (he apparently worked some extra shifts
at the pharmacy) so they can start over. Laynie tells Amy taking Tommy back is a mistake, but Amy tells her she's wrong and
that maybe Laynie is the one she should stop seeing.
What's Up With Ephram: Ephram is walking on air after
his "night" with Madison. He feels as if nothing or nobody can push him off of cloud 9. Bright is psyched for Ephram's triumph
but he sees that Ephram's "feelings" for Madison are growing and he tries to tell him to slow down. Even Will, Ephram's piano
teacher, can sense that Ephram's been effected by a girl because of the way he's playing. He tells Ephram that he wants him
to play at a jazz festival that weekend out of town. Ephram's reluctant because he wants to spend all his free time with Madison,
but he agrees to go. It turns out that Madison's band has a gig they're playing the same night of Ephram's recital so the
two of them look forward to telling each other about their weekend. They're both happy and goofing around when in the midst
of their laughter Ephram's tongue spills out the contents of his heart without his consent and he says, "I love you." Madison
looks at him, taken aback and pretends it didn't happen. The next day while driving to the recital with Andy, Will and Bright,
Ephram is consumed with his slip. Bright admits that it was a major mistake but feels Ephram needs to just forget about it
and have a good weekend. Ephram is obsessing, however, and he decides to take the car, drive back to Everwood and talk to
Madison. When he gets to Madison's apartment he looks in the window and sees her having a blast, drinking beer and celebrating
with her band mates. Ephram leaves without a word and is exhausted by the time he gets back for his recital. Needless to say
he blows his recital but Madison's the only thing he can think about. When he gets back Madison excitedly tells him about
how great the band's gig went and Ephram tells her about how he drove back to Everwood to see her the night before his recital.
Madison looks freaked out, not only about Ephram's "I love you" but also that he peeked in at her and didn't tell her he was
there. She tells him that she needed time to absorb his "I love you" but in the meantime she concedes with Ephram to pretend
it didn't happen. So they watch TV together under a blanket, looking uncomfortable.
What's Up With Linda: Since
Andy has to drive Ephram to his jazz recital Linda volunteers to watch Delia, thinking it couldn't possibly be a problem.
She attempts helping Delia and her friend with a school project but botches it up when Delia and her friend get in a fight
and she takes the friend's side. She decides to go over to Nina's to ask for help. Nina gives her advice and Linda's able
to quell Delia's annoyance with her, which helps Delia to lighten up and maybe even enjoy Linda's company. When calling for
Linda to look at her project Delia sees her in the bathroom taking the medication she needs for her HIV. Delia looks concerned
but doesn't mention it to anybody.
