No Sure Thing, #37 Original air date: February 9, 2004 The
scoop: While moving deeper into their new relationships Ephram, Amy and even Andy dwell on taking that pivotal next step.
What's
Up With Andy: When Amy comes to Andy for birth control pills he assures her that their meeting is confidential and nobody
(including Edna) will find out. Edna finds Amy's file and furiously asks Andy about how he could have prescribed her birth
control pills. She wants to confront Amy and tell Harold what she found but Andy tells her he'll fire her if she does. She
asks Andy how he'd feel if it was Ephram and Andy tells her Ephram isn't having sex. But it makes him think; and when he runs
into Bright and his dad at the grocery store and finds out that Ephram never spent the night playing poker with the guys like
he said, he's ready to let Ephram have it. Andy confronts him after Ephram arrives home from a slight catastrophe with Madison.
When Andy asks if he's sleeping with her Ephram tells him no and that he probably never will. Meanwhile, Andy is busy trying
to get Delia and Linda to become closer and he wants Linda to spend the night at his house. After making sure that Ephram
and Delia are okay with her spending the night he plans for Linda to stay over that Saturday. Linda decides not to stay and
the next night, she's ready to break up with Andy because of the trepidation she feels over their relationship. Andy convinces
her that not only is she NOT breaking up with him but she's NOT going to put the breaks on their relationship either. He likes
her too much.
What's Up With Amy: Amy and Tommy have been getting closer, emotionally and physically, but Amy
stops him when he goes too far. Tommy's very understanding and assures her that when and if she's ready he'll be ready also.
Amy talks to Laynie who encourages her to go ahead with Tommy because she likes him a lot. Amy decides to go on birth control
pills and when Tommy asks her if she'll accompany him to a party a friend of his is having, Amy agrees and tells him that
would be the perfect place and time for them to consummate their feelings for each other. Tommy is pleased but puts no pressure
on her. Amy brings Laynie along to the party and Laynie wonders upon Tommy in the bathroom handing out little plastic bags
of pills in exchange for money. She tells Amy what she saw, wanting her to reconsider having sex with him. While alone in
the master bedroom with Tommy Amy tells him what Laynie saw. Tommy doesn't deny it but tells her that he only did it because
he wouldn't have been allowed into the party otherwise. He tells Amy that the amount of money he was offered was tempting
because it could pay his family's rent for a month. He promises her over and over that he'll never do something so stupid
again. Amy believes him but decides against going through with their "union".
What's Up With Ephram: Madison
tells Ephram that her snotty roommate is going away next weekend and they'll be able to have the apartment to themselves.
Not knowing what to make of that, Ephram asks Bright who tells him that Madison has made him an unequivocal sex invite that
Ephram cannot refuse. He advises Ephram to go over Madison's "prepared". Ephram tells Andy that he's spending the night at
Bright's, intending to spend the night with Madison. When arriving at Madison's Ephram is eager to not put off their unification.
Madison, realizing what's on Ephram's mind, tells him that wasn't her intention and sends him home. The next night she lets
him in when he knocks on her door and she tells him about the first time she did the nasty, the wild thang, the horizontal
bop. It wasn't a very pleasant experience for her and Ephram tells her that he can't stand the thought of her being unhappy.
With that, they begin to kiss and soon they're at the point of no return. Being responsible, Madison asks Ephram if he brought
condoms. Ephram did and tells her they're in his jacket. Madison reaches over Ephram with her whole body to get the condoms
and while she's doing this Ephramlet's just say he finishes a little early. Unable to withstand the humiliation, Ephram tells
Madison that he can't do this right now and bolts. The next day Madison comes over and she and Ephram have a talk in his car.
They goof around trying to find a "song" they can share by randomly going from station to station. Before you know it they're
kissing and then they're kissing a little more; and this time they don't stop.
