Forget Me Not, #36
Original air date: February 2, 2004
The scoop: Andy attempts to make up for neglecting Nina; Ephram and Amy rekindle their friendship; Ephram & Madison and Amy & Tommy experience their first lover's quarrels.

What's Up With Ephram: Ephram writes a song on the piano for Madison. When he plays it for her he's concerned that she doesn't like it. She tells him she loves it and that her band will love it too. He's thrilled that she likes it enough to show to the band. With all the concentrating he's been doing on Madison, Ephram's been neglecting other parts of his life, such as Spanish class. It turns out that Amy's in the same boat he is (because of all the concentrating she's been doing on Tommy) and they both have to do an extra credit assignment to avoid summer school. Their assignment is to create an authentic Spanish meal for their whole class. The two decide to go shopping after school for the ingredients. While shopping they talk about Madison & Tommy making it clear that they're both very happy. Afterwards, Ephram meets Madison after her band practice and runs into the guitar player - Madison's ex-boyfriend - Jake. Ephram asks him about the song and is embarrassed when Jake doesn't know what he's talking about. He's further humiliated when Jake chastises him about his fling with Madison. When Ephram angrily confronts Madison about why she lied to him, he becomes even more upset when she tells him it's because she's embarrassed. The next day while he and Amy are preparing their Spanish meal together, he's in a bad mood because Madison never calls him. He cheers up the following day when Madison tells him that she was busy writing lyrics to the song he gave her. She confirms her feelings for him and they kiss and makeup.

What's Up With Amy: Amy prepares a gift package for Tommy to commemorate their 1-month anniversary and decides to surprise him by bringing it by his house. She arrives at a trailer park and is caught off guard when the woman who opens the door asks if she's from the church. Amy says she must have the wrong place and leaves without mentioning her visit to Tommy. Later, celebrating their 1-month anniversary, Tommy gives Amy a $300 pager. After finding out that Amy visited his home Tommy is irate and tells her to never do it again. Amy's upset about his anger and as she and Ephram cook their meal together the two of them bicker and Amy accuses Ephram of not being there for her. After Ephram walks out on her Tommy shows up to apologize and explains that he's ashamed of his living conditions. Amy assures him that she doesn't care about that and the two of them head out for dinner together. Unfortunately, Amy forgets she's supposed to celebrate her dad's birthday with her family that night. Edna tells her how disappointed everybody was that she wasn't there so Amy writes her dad a sweet apology note, telling him she loves him and thinks about him every day. In the meantime, while she and Ephram are sitting in a Spanish restaurant waiting for their order of 30 take-out meals, they agree to set aside their differences and resume their friendship.

What's Up With Andy: Nina, needing to get her son, Sam his flu shot, decides to see Dr. Abbott instead of Andy. She confides in Harold that she and her husband have separated and that Andy hasn't really been there for her. Harold tells Andy about their conversation and Andy realizes he's been so consumed with his relationship with Linda that he's forgotten about the difficult time Nina's been going through. That night he brings Nina dinner and offers to lend her Madison to watch Sam the following day. Nina is furious with Andy's lame attempt to make up for lost time and throws him out. Linda understands Andy's predicament with Nina and gives him her advice. Later, Andy and Linda hear a car crash and run outside to see Nina's car in a ditch. Running to the car Andy sees that it isn't Nina in the car but 6 year-old Sam. Nina had fallen asleep and Sam took her keys and went playing in the car. At the hospital Andy assures Nina that Sam only has minor injuries. He apologizes for not being there for her and he stays with her at the hospital.
